Benjamin France, LPC
I came to therapy the long way. Before I became a counselor, I spent about 15 years working in finance and insurance - fields I was competent in but never felt like mine. I know firsthand what it’s like to spend years in a life that looks fine on paper but feels quietly off. That experience isn’t just a backstory. It is why I do this work.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in neurodivergent adults - particularly people with ADHD and anxiety - as well as creative people: musicians, writers, artists, and anyone who thinks and feels at a high volume. My own ADHD and anxiety aren’t thinks I tucked away when I got licensed. They’re part of how I understand people, and part of what makes me a different kind of presence in the room.
My approach blends psychodynamic, existential, person-centered, and IFS frameworks -which is a clinical way of saying; I am less interested in symptoms management and more interested in helping you figure out who you actually are an what is actually getting in the way. A lot of the people I work with aren’t broken. They’re disconnected - from themselves, from their creative lives, from any sense of purpose. That disconnection tends to show up as anxiety, burnout, or a persistent feeling that something important is missing.
I'm a lifelong musician and writer, which means I have genuine respect for the particular way the creative mind works - its gifts and its particular struggles. I don’t approach that from the outside. I practice telehealth only and I’m licensed in Missouri, Florida and Washington. If you’re someone whose been trying to get unstuck - who knows something’s off but hasn't quite been able to name it — I'd be glad to talk.
