Nicholas Parker

Hello! My name is Nick, and I am a therapist-in-training seeking my Master’s in Social Work from Louisiana State University Online. I’ll be graduating in Spring of 2027.

I began my journey as a Mathematics major at the University of Iowa, hoping to teach at a high school level. Although I found that the classroom setting was not quite right for me, I fell in love with studying how people learn and develop. My time with other math nerds instilled a profound curiosity for all that there is to know around me, and my time with other prospective teachers instilled in me a deep compassion for people of all ages who might just need a little help to become who they want to be. My dream is to help people become more honest, more loving, and more curious towards themselves and others.

Like many Black men, I’ve been told time and time again what kind of man I need to be if I want to be accepted and loved. I've seen from personal experience how this pressure can leave Black men feeling inadequate, anxious, not Black or Man enough, and cut off from those they love. I hope to provide a safe and welcoming place for not just Black men, but people of all races and genders to be exactly who they are and learn to become safety for those around them.
