About Sara Ward, LCSW

Sara Ward-Thomas is a licensed clinical social worker with a deep passion for supporting individuals on their healing journey after trauma. Since earning her clinical license in 2007, she has worked closely with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse—an experience that shaped the foundation of her practice and continues to inspire her work today. Sara creates a warm, grounded, and collaborative space where clients feel safe, heard, and supported. She believes that healing happens when people are met with compassion and curiosity, and she helps clients reconnect with their inner strength while developing practical tools to regulate their nervous system and reduce overwhelm. Her approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from EMDR, HeartMath, and somatic techniques. For those interested, Sara also incorporates intuitive and energy-based practices—she is Reiki II certified and enjoys helping clients access their own inner guidance in gentle and empowering ways. While much of her early work focused on children and families impacted by early medical trauma, foster care, and adoption, Sara now primarily works with adults navigating the long-term effects of trauma. That early experience enriched her understanding of how trauma affects development and relationships across the lifespan. Sara also enjoys working with couples, using an attachment-based lens and tools from the Gottman Method to foster deeper connection and communication. At the heart of Sara’s work is a deep respect for each person’s story and an unwavering belief in their capacity to heal.
